Wisdom Teeth Extraction:
Wisdom teeth are the final set of molars that usually erupt in the late teens or early twenties. Often wisdom teeth are misaligned, crowding or damaging adjacent teeth, the jawbone, or nerves. An infection known as pericoronitis can result from partially erupted wisdom teeth. Partially erupted teeth are difficult to brush and floss, making your mouth more prone to tooth decay and gum disease.
When wisdom teeth require removal, your dentist will advise you what to expect during the healing period and how to best control any pain that you might have.
Extractions:
Although the philosophy at K&J is to try and preserve your teeth whenever possible, in some cases tooth extraction may be needed. If a tooth needs to be extracted your dentist will discuss alternatives for replacement, such as fixed partial dentures (crowns and bridges), removable partial dentures (dentures) or implants.
